Study Session for Parents and Kids Program 2018-2019
Study Session for Parents and Kids Program is designed to provide an opportunity once or twice a month for McGill students with child dependents to complete academic work while their children are cared for in the same building by volunteers. This year a collaboration between SSMU and PGSS.
ABCs of Daycare in Montreal
Learn about daycare options in Montreal at this information session presented by Chantal Thomas from Familles centre-ville. You'll learn about the different types of daycare available, costs, and how to pick the right daycare for your family. This event is open to McGill University undergrad and graduate students and their spouses/partners. Light snacks will be provided. Parent + Baby Yoga Event!
Baby is sometimes in the arms of mom or dad and integrated in the postures, sometimes on the ground on a blanket, sometimes rocked by a mantra. A session to learn to relax with your baby and get in shape with Yoga!
PGSS & Studentcare FREE Meditation Hour
PGSS & Studentcare FREE Meditation Hour- Winter 2019 will be held on Mondays from 12:30-1:30pm in room 404. No previous meditation experience necessary; each session is designed to be accessible to anyone interested. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session to allow us to begin promptly; doors open at 12:00pm. These sessions operate on a drop-in basis; no registration is required, and there is no charge. Participants may start attending at any time in the semester.

This trip is to provide undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities available with the federal government and to network with staff, government officials, and McGill alumni in the Ottawa area. Come join us for a night full of paint, wine, and friends! With a friendly local artist joining us at Thomson House, we will be having an eco-friendly paint night. Bring your friends, create your very own scenic painting, and enjoy a glass of wine. This will be a zero-waste event. All materials and contents used at the event are made from recycled materials, biodegradable paints, and compostable products.
Parent + Kids Yoga Event!
Partner with your child in this animated class to build body awareness, strength, and coordination through simple postures. We'll "fly" in butterfly pose, wag our tails in downward-facing dog, and roar in lion pose. This fun class is open to all levels and children aged 4+. Class is 1 hour.
Mental Health + Learning How to Be Supportive
As our first event to kick off well-week we are collaborating with The Peer Support Centre to host a Mental Health + Support Workshop Have you ever felt helpless when a friend of yours was in need of support? Come to this workshop and learn more about what mental health is and some basic active listening skills that will empower you to support a friend!For whom? Herbs for Stress & Anxiety
Coping with stress and anxiety can be no easy task. However, there are many different tools available to us and herbs can be one of these tools. This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to learn about and connect with local medicinal plants that can be supportive for stress and anxiety. The approach of the workshop will be educational and exploratory/experiential with an emphasis on self-knowledge and self-healing. Participants are invited to sample tea infusions of select herbs.
SafeTALK suicide prevention workshop
As part of McGill's first ever Well-Week, PGSS is hosting a SafeTALK workshop on January 31st! Many people with thoughts of suicide invite help through their words or actions. Sometimes these opportunities are missed or avoided, leaving people more alone. SafeTALK prepares you to help by using clearly defined ways to identify and engage people and connect them to further help. Learning goals and objectives

Join us for an evening of fun and games at the Thomson House Ballroom on to celebrate our multicultural and multilingual family of graduate students! Doors open at 6:30pm and the bar will be at your service all night, serving drinks and yummy snacks! You are more than welcome to bring your own games!
