N95 Mask Distribution- February 8, 2023
Covid is airborne and requires airborne mitigations in addition to vaccines. Better masks are a key part of those mitigations, and PGSS is doing what we can to make those more accessible to our members.
MIT's Fishbanks: Renewable Resource Management Simulation Game
Do you like games? Do you like learning about sustainable resources? Join your PGSS peers for some educational fun at your favorite spot on campus! Fishbanks is MIT Management School multiplayer web-based simulation in which participants play the role of fishers and seek to maximize their net worth as they compete against other players and deal with variations in fish stocks and their catch. Participants buy, sell, and build ships; decide where to fish; and negotiate with one another. Policy options available to instructors include auctions of new boats, permits, and quotas. The main learning objective is to provide the opportunity for students to learn about the challenges of managing resources sustainably in a common pool resource setting, with realistic resource dynamics. This event is offered hybrid, in person or online.

Winterlude & Skating: Rideau Canal Ottawa 2023
Join PGSS in a day trip to explore the a highlight of winter in Ottawa -the Rideau Canal Skateway, the world’s largest skating rink. Skate through the heart of downtown Ottawa on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trip is unguided so you can explore Ottawa at your leisure throughout the day. The Skateway is 7.8 kilometres long, and begins just steps from Canada’s Parliament Buildings. The scenic skating rink extends to Dows Lake. In between, warm up at rest areas, where there are toasty fires, hot drinks and tasty snacks. **Please note that the confirmation email may be sent to your Junk Inbox**

Join the BIPOC Grad Network for February's Coffee Hour! Come, enjoy some coffee and snacks while engaging with members from the International Student Caucus. This event is designed to create a physical space for students to feel comfortable to talk, to vent, to share, to commemorate, and to commiserate in an informal environment that welcomes diversity and inclusion. We have invited Professor Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey from the Department of History and Classical Studies to join us to speak casually about his experiences in academia, publishing, and entrepreneurship. BIPOC Grad Network Monthly Meeting
This month we will be joined by the Jewish Student Affairs Liaison, Muslim Student Affairs Liaison, and the Black Student Affairs Liaison who will introduce themselves and listen to graduate student experiences, challenges, and feedback to help them better in their roles. This meeting is therefore open to non-Black Jewish and Muslim students as well as to non-Jewish/ non-Muslim BIPOC students. This portion will last from 5-6 pm. From 6- 7 pm we will hold our regular constituent meeting to discuss mandates and policy issues. Please spread the word to new and existing BIPOC Graduate Students at McGill.
